Extra curricular activities

Co-curricular programs

At Greenacre Public School we believe in providing a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular activities offer students a variety of opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and contribute to the school community.

Sporting Competitions

Students are encouraged to try out school sporting teams and play against other schools in the primary school sports association gala days. These sports include but are not limited to netball, newcombeball, basketball, soccer, cricket, touch football and oz tag. .    .

Swim Scheme

Greenacre Public School provides students in years 2-6 the opportunity to participate in a swimming scheme program every year. This is a learn to swim program run by qualified instructors that our students take part in for 2 weeks every year.

Public Speaking

Greenacre Public School’s Public Speaking co-curricular program empowers students to become confident and articulate communicators. Through regular practice, students develop skills in presenting, argumentation, and persuasive speaking, which boost their confidence and ability to think critically. The program also includes opportunities to visit local schools for debating competitions, allowing students to engage with peers, refine their public speaking abilities, and experience real-world challenges. This program not only improves communication skills but also fosters teamwork, discipline, and a deep sense of achievement, all of which benefit students in their academic and personal growth.

Debating

Greenacre Public School debating co-curricular program provides students with an exceptional opportunity to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills. By participating in debates, students learn to express their ideas clearly and persuasively, while also honing their ability to listen, analyze, and respond to opposing viewpoints. This program not only boosts their confidence but also encourages them to engage with complex issues, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them. The skills gained through debating are invaluable, empowering students for future academic and professional success.

Dance

Our dance program offers students a creative outlet to express themselves while enhancing their physical fitness, coordination, and teamwork skills. Through various styles of dance, students build confidence, discipline, and resilience as they work together to learn choreography and perform in front of an audience. The program encourages creativity and self-expression while fostering a sense of accomplishment and community. By participating, students gain valuable skills that contribute to their overall development, both personally and academically.

Library Monitors

Greenacre Public School Library Monitor program offers year 6 students a chance to take on leadership roles while fostering responsibility and organisational skills. As library monitors, students assist with managing resources, helping peers find books, and ensuring the library runs smoothly. This role encourages a sense of ownership and community within the school. By working in a team, students enhance their communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. The experience also nurtures a love for reading and learning, making it a valuable opportunity for both personal growth and academic development.
